17 of 24 Battle Ax tobacco tags on an 1897 card for a free pocket knife. The card is in fair condition with pieces missing, but it is impressive for 1897. There are 17 original Battle Ax tobacco tags still attached and all are in excellent condition. Customers bought Battle Ax tobacco, received a metal tag with each purchase, and once 24 tags were collected the card could be exchanged with any dealer for a pocket knife of their choice. The only rule was the card had to be exchanged on or before October 1st, 1897.
